Terms of use.

The agreement between you and Lumetrix Labs Limited when you use Lumi — written in plain English, without the usual fog.

Last updated: June 2026 Version 1.0 www.talktolumi.app
The short version

Lumi is a companion — not a clinician.

Lumi is a wellness app to support your day-to-day mental wellbeing. It is not a medical device, not therapy, and not an emergency service. If you are in crisis, please contact the Samaritans on 116 123. By using Lumi you agree to these terms — including the subscription and billing terms below.

Section 01Who we are.

Lumi is a mental health companion app made by Lumetrix Labs Limited ("Lumetrix Labs", "we", "us", "our"), a company registered in England and Wales under company number 16949693, with its registered office at 1st Floor, 124 Cleveland Street, London W1T 6PG, United Kingdom. The Lumi website is published at www.talktolumi.app. You can contact us at hello@talktolumi.app.

Section 02Accepting these terms.

These Terms of Use ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and Lumetrix Labs governing your use of the Lumi mobile app and related services (together, the "Service"). By downloading, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

These Terms should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your data. Your use of the Service is also subject to the rules of the app store you download it from (Apple App Store or Google Play).

Section 03Who can use Lumi.

Lumi is intended for people aged 18 and over. By using the Service you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and that you are legally able to enter into this agreement. We do not knowingly allow anyone under 18 to use the Service.

Section 04What Lumi is — and isn't.

Lumi is a lifestyle and wellness companion. It offers a supportive AI companion for daily check-ins, a mood and wellbeing diary, and a report you can choose to share with a healthcare professional.

Lumi is not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any illness, and it is not a substitute for professional medical advice, therapy, diagnosis, or treatment.

Lumi's AI companion can make mistakes and may produce information that is inaccurate or incomplete. Nothing Lumi says should be taken as medical, clinical, legal, or financial advice. Lumi will never recommend, comment on, or adjust any medication — always speak to a qualified healthcare professional about your health, treatment, or medication. Always seek the advice of your GP or another qualified professional with any questions you may have about a medical condition, and never disregard professional advice or delay seeking it because of something you have read or been told within the Service.

Section 05Crisis and emergencies.

Lumi is not an emergency or crisis service and cannot provide urgent help. If you are in crisis, or if you think you may harm yourself or someone else, please contact emergency services or a crisis line immediately:

  • Emergency: call 999 (UK).
  • Samaritans: call 116 123, free, 24/7.
  • Shout: text SHOUT to 85258.
  • NHS urgent mental health help: call 111 and select the mental health option.

The Service may show crisis support information at certain times, but it does not monitor you, cannot guarantee to detect when you need help, and is not a monitored or supervised service.

Section 06Your account.

Lumi creates an anonymous account for you using a random identifier — we do not ask for your name or email to use the app. You are responsible for keeping your device secure and for any activity that takes place through the Service on your device. Because accounts are anonymous, we may be unable to recover your data if you lose access to your device. See the Privacy Policy for details on how your data is stored and how you can export or delete it.

Section 07Acceptable use.

When using the Service, you agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful, harmful, or fraudulent purpose.
  • Attempt to access, disrupt, or interfere with the Service, its security, or its underlying systems.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, copy, or create derivative works from the Service, except where the law expressly permits.
  • Use automated means to access the Service, or attempt to circumvent message allowances, trials, or billing.
  • Use the Service to harass, harm, or impersonate others, or to submit content that infringes the rights of any third party.
  • Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the Service or any part of it.

We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for your own personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms.

Section 08Subscriptions & free trial.

Some features of Lumi require a paid subscription. We currently offer a monthly plan at £6.99 and an annual plan at £69.99 (which works out cheaper than paying month to month). We may also offer optional one-off top-up packs — see Section 11. The price that applies to any purchase is the price shown in the app at the moment you confirm it; prices are inclusive of VAT where applicable and may change as described in Section 16.

New subscribers may be offered a 7-day free trial. If a free trial is offered and you start one, you will not be charged during the trial. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, your subscription will automatically begin and your chosen payment method will be charged the price shown at sign-up. We will send a reminder before your trial ends, but it remains your responsibility to cancel in time if you do not wish to be charged.

Section 09Billing & auto-renewal.

All payments are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store) through your store account and managed via RevenueCat. We never see or store your card or payment details.

  • Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or annual) at the then-current price, unless you cancel beforehand.
  • Your store account is charged at confirmation of purchase and again at each renewal.
  • If we change subscription prices, we will give you notice and the new price will only apply from your next renewal. Continuing to use a paid plan after a price change takes effect means you accept the new price.
  • Manage or turn off auto-renewal at any time in your App Store or Play Store account settings.

Section 10Cancellation & refunds.

You can cancel your subscription at any time through your App Store or Play Store account settings. When you cancel, you keep access to paid features until the end of the period you have already paid for, and you will not be charged again after that.

Refunds for app store purchases are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies, not by us — please contact them directly for refund requests. Where you have a statutory right to cancel under UK consumer law, note that by starting to use digital content (such as a paid subscription) during any cancellation period, you may lose the right to a refund for content already supplied. Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

Section 11Message allowances & top-ups.

To keep the Service sustainable, conversations with Lumi are subject to a fair-use message allowance included with your subscription (currently 50 messages). The other features of the app — your mood diary, wellbeing check-ins, medication diary, and reports — are not metered.

If you reach your included allowance before your next renewal, you can buy an optional one-off top-up pack of additional messages to keep chatting with Lumi. We currently offer a 50-message pack at £1.49 and a 150-message pack at £3.99. The price and size of each pack is shown in the app before you confirm, and the price shown there at the moment of purchase applies. Top-up packs:

  • are a one-time purchase, not a subscription, and do not auto-renew;
  • are added to your message allowance as soon as the purchase completes;
  • are processed by Apple or Google through your store account, the same way subscriptions are; and
  • are digital content used immediately, so they are non-refundable once purchased, except where you have a non-excludable statutory right to a refund.

Allowances and pack sizes are shown in the app and may be adjusted over time.

Section 12Intellectual property.

The Service, including its software, design, branding, "Lumi" and "Lumetrix" names, logos, and content (excluding your own entries), is owned by or licensed to Lumetrix Labs and is protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not transfer any ownership rights to you. The content you create — your diary entries, scores, and messages — remains yours; you grant us only the limited permissions needed to operate and provide the Service to you, as described in the Privacy Policy.

Section 13Privacy.

Your privacy matters to us. Our Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how it is used, and the rights you have under UK GDPR. By using the Service you acknowledge that we process your data as described there.

Section 14Disclaimers.

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. While we work hard to provide a reliable, helpful experience, we do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that the AI companion's responses will be accurate, complete, or suitable for your circumstances. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude all implied warranties and conditions. Nothing in this section affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

Section 15Limitation of liability.

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability where it would be unlawful to do so — including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.

Subject to that, and to the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • We are not liable for any decisions you make, or actions you take or do not take, in reliance on the Service.
  • We are not liable for loss or damage that is not reasonably foreseeable, or for any indirect or consequential loss.
  • Our total liability to you arising from or in connection with the Service is limited to the amount you paid us (if any) in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.

The Service is intended for personal, non-commercial use, and we are not liable for any business losses.

Section 16Changes to the Service and these Terms.

We may update, improve, or change the Service over time, and we may update these Terms to reflect changes to the Service, the law, or our practices. If we make material changes to these Terms, we will notify you in the app before they take effect. The "last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the current version. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms. You can always find the current Terms at www.talktolumi.app/terms.html.

Section 17Suspension & termination.

You can stop using the Service at any time and delete your account from within the app. We may suspend or end your access to the Service if you materially breach these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service. Where we discontinue the Service, we will give you reasonable notice where we can. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law — will continue to apply.

Section 18Governing law.

These Terms and any dispute arising out of or in connection with them or the Service are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except that if you are a consumer resident in another part of the UK, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
